It’s a boy!

Tahra and I had another doctor visit last Friday, which involved an extended meeting with the sonographer, who took alot of pictures of the young Boatright.  It was hard to get clear pictures of him at first, because he was very active - wiggling around and moving his hands and legs.  She verified that it is indeed a boy (and you can too if you look at the appropriate picture below) and that he has all the other parts that he is supposed to (i.e. two legs, two feet, two arms, two hands, two eyesockets, two kidneys, 4-chambered heart, lateral ventricles, and various other anatomical measurements were taken as well).  His heartbeat is about 135 bpm, he weighs about a half pound and measures just over 5 inches head to rump.

Following the visit with the sonographer, we met with Dr. Ikbal, who said that everything was normal, although she expressed slight concern about Tahra’s (lack of) weight gain.  She tipped the scales at a whopping 132 lbs on Friday, which, the dedicated blog follower will note, brings her total weight gain since the first visit to -3 pounds.  Not exactly what a layperson would expect.  This was something that I (being a layperson) had expressed concern about (namely, that she is not a consistent member of the “clean plate club”), and I was glad to be vindicated in my efforts to make her eat.  As such, upon leaving the doctor’s office, we made haste to the nearest Dairy Queen, and Tahra got after a Peanut Buster Parfait (I had a milkshake, for sympathy eating’s sake).  Rest assured, dear readership, that Tahra is no longer going to be afraid to eat Twizzlers in bed, or indulge herself a weekly (daily) trip to DQ!

We don’t have another visit for about a month, but I will make a better effort to post even if there aren’t any new pictures to put up.
